Everyday classrooms.
Remarkable stories.

CHALK. is a global education media brand. We find the most interesting schools, leaders, and ideas in education — and share them. Freely. For every educator on earth.

Get Involved Our Mission

Open source education  ·  Season 1 in production

The founding belief

The best ideas in education aren't being shared.
And children are paying for it.

If we all put our best ideas into the open, every child benefits.

Some of it is structural. Conferences cost money. CPD budgets favour schools that already have them. EdTech spent a decade selling innovation back to the profession at a premium and called it progress.

Some of it is something harder to say out loud. Great teaching has become a competitive advantage. Ideas stay inside the walls of institutions that are already winning. The best teachers end up in the schools that can afford to find them. And that knowledge — the thing that could change everything for a child — stays put.

The child who wasn't born lucky doesn't get access to the thinking that might change everything for them. Not because it doesn't exist. Because nobody shared it.

Every child needs a great teacher. Not just the children whose parents can afford the school that figured it out first.

CHALK. exists because every educator deserves to see what's possible. And every child — regardless of postcode, passport, or the school their parents could afford — deserves a teacher who's been shown it. Free. Open source. No paywalls. That's the whole model.

Equally important

What CHALK.
isn't.

We're not for everyone. We think that's fine.

  • Sanitised LinkedIn content. Self-congratulatory posts performing for five likes from people who already agree with you.
  • CPD. Nobody's making you watch this and there's no certificate at the end. This is for educators who are already curious.
  • A podcast. We made it watchable on purpose. The schools, the people, the environments — they deserve to be seen.
  • Virtue signalling. Everyone in a classroom is trying their best. That's the starting assumption. We're not here to make anyone feel guilty.
  • A conversation that only happens in one country. The world's most interesting education stories are everywhere.
  • Prescriptive. CHALK. presents what exists and what the research says. It doesn't tell you what to do. That's your job.

Get involved

Your school.
The world's audience.

Schools on boats. Classrooms in forests. Teachers doing extraordinary things in ordinary rooms. The school nobody outside your city has heard of — but should have. We're not prescriptive about what remarkable looks like. If something worth sharing is happening inside your walls, we want to find it.

Schools get an international audience, high-quality content, and third-party credibility. CHALK. gets the access, the stories, and the network. Everything lives in the CHALK. Vault — a free, open archive of the world's best education thinking — permanently, searchably, for every educator on earth.
